Gayle Porter is a Speech Pathologist with 40 years experience working with people who have complex communication needs. Gayle currently works at the Cerebral Palsy Education Centre and has a private practice. Within her private practice Gayle works collaboratively with school personnel to plan strategies to support students with complex communication needs to access and participate in their curriculum. Gayle is also an educator, presenting on a range of topics including unaided and aided AAC; communication access; cerebral palsy, movements for communication, mealtimes and educational inclusion for children who have physical and complex challenges. In 1996 Gayle received the Speech Pathology Australia, Elinor Wray Award in recognition of outstanding clinical contribution the profession of speech pathology. In 2007 she was the first recipient of the AGOSCI award for services to Australian AAC. In 1998 was a member of the team who founded the Cerebral Palsy Education Centre in Melbourne, Australia. Gayle is internationally known for her work developing the Pragmatic Organisation Dynamic Displays (PODD) communication books and page sets for electronic speech generating devices.
